While there are no fun new features being introduced in the new Sony Alpha firmware updates released today, they do fix some known potential issues with bricking your expensive cameras.
Sony a7 III, a7R III Update Version 2.10
The Sony a7 III and a7R III version 2.10 firmware will fix a critical issue of cameras that “stop functioning while writing raw data onto an SD card that has already been used multiple times.” It will also fix an issue where certain non-Sony SD cards would not be recognized by the camera. Lastly, Sony claims to have improved the overall stability of the a7 III and a7R III.
Sony a9 Update Version 4.10
About a month after the previous version 4.00 firmware update, Sony has released another tweak that will also fix the unrecognized third-party SD memory card issue.
The Sony a9 version 4.10 camera update is available to download now on the Sony support website.
